Husam calls on Muhyiddin to take urgent action

He said, Datuk Seri Najib Razak needs to do so in order for an independent investigation to be carried out.

Husam has also proposed that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, accompanied by Attorney-General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail to propose the resignation of the Prime Minister.

“The Deputy Prime Minister must take the initiative to straighten out matters in the country.

“The Deputy Prime Minister needs to meet with the DYMM YDP Agong accompanied by the Attorney General and inform him on the situation and propose the resignation of the PM.

“All Members of Parliament should also display their patriotic spirit and render their support for the Deputy Prime Minister in taking over the country from Datuk Seri Najib even if they are from parties outside the ruling government,” Husam said in a statement today.

Husam said, Muhyiddin should also guarantee that action in accordance to the law will be taken regardless of rank and status.

“If action is not taken immediately, this will lead to more disasters,” he said.

On Friday, Wall Street Journal (WSJ) in its report alleged that some AS$700 million (RM2.6 million) of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds had been transferred to an AmBank personal account under the name of Najib in 2013.

Najib has denied taking any funds from 1MDB for personal use and instead claimed that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the mastermind behind the report and accused Dr Mahathir of cooperating with international agents opposing his administration.

Those claims have been dismissed by Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir who denied his father was the mastermind behind the 1MDB scandal.

The Kedah Menteri Besar also dismissed allegations linking Dr Mahathir with the WSJ report.
