Barisan Nasional (BN) Strategic Communications director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said today that he is saddened by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's action in working with the Opposition.

Abdul Rahman said Dr Mahathir, who was a former prime minister, is now seen as a statesman who had lost his political ways.

"Angry is not the word to describe it anymore. We feel sorry and saddened because a statesman that we once looked up to, has made a 180-degree turn and now teaming up with the opposition.

"What he taught us for 22 years as prime minister and UMNO president has gone to waste," he told reporters at a press conference after officiating 'Kuale' 3R Community Programme, here, on Sunday.

Abdul Rahman, who is the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister also announced the approval for the construction of a mini arena at Phase 4 of the Public Housing Plan which costs RM500,000.

Commenting on Dr Mahathir's consideration of rejoining UMNO, he said there shouldn't be any conditions set if one wants to rejoin the party.

"We want him to voluntarily rejoin UMNO, and not set any conditions whatsoever.

"We want Tun Mahathir to experience celebrating BN's victory in both by-elections," he said.
