However, the BN Youth chairman stressed that the candidate has to remain professional, neutral and loyal to the government of the day.

"Obviously if there's a Pakatan guy that is more competent, the only concern that I would have is confidentiality," said Khairy, adding that the person must be able to serve the existing government with full loyalty.

Speaking in front student delegates at the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit (MSLS) on Saturday, he said regardless of political beliefs, the candidate should be someone who is able to uphold ethical practices in the office.

"I don't mind somebody that doesn't support me or my party. I can deal with the fact that he doesn't like my face but I cannot deal with the fact that he would leak or not uphold ethical practices in the office.

"We don't hide anything but there are certain things that that are sensitive, there are certain information that is confidential for security reasons," said Khairy.

The Youth and Sports Minister also admitted that there are some of the Perdana Fellow interns who posted negative comments about him and the government in the social media such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

"I know for a fact that my own fellows have some very nasty things to say about me but I still took them because I felt they could contribute to the country," he said.

Khairy added that as long as these candidates serve the government of day and the ministers, it should be good enough.

He was on answering a question by the moderator on whether he would employ political interns from the opposition to work under his ministry if they are prove to be more capable than the interns from the Perdana Fellows programmme.

The 8th MSLS held today (Saturday) and tomorrow is a platform for intellectual and productive dialogue between Malaysian student leaders and prominent national figures from various fields.
