Padang Rengas Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has stressed that he did not know about PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's efforts to take over the government.
The former Minister of Tourism and Culture explained that the last time he met Anwar was during the Dewan Rakyat sitting which took place from July to August.
Nazri also explained that during the past eight days he was in Sabah and did not know about Anwar's efforts.
"I was in Sabah for eight days and at that time I did not have the opportunity to meet Anwar.
"The last time I met Anwar was when Parliament convened last July, so I did not know about this last move.
"Perhaps he (Anwar) can contact other UMNO members but of course with me there is nothing at all, so I do not know about this matter," he told Astro AWANI.
Apart from Nazri, UMNO Vice President and MP for Padang Terap, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid denied that he strongly supported the move to form a new government led by Anwar.
"I, Mahdzir Bin Khalid, Padang Terap Member of Parliament and UMNO Vice President, vehemently deny that I have ever been or are involved in supporting the move to form a new government led by Port Dickson MP as reported by an online news portal," he said in a brief statement.
On Wednesday, Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairman, announced that he had received the support of MPs from various parties, including those in favour of the current government, but declined to reveal their numbers.
The Port Dickson MP also said that he had been granted an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, but it was postponed because His Majesty had to be admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for treatment.
