Despite not being the deputy prime minister anymore or holding any ministerial post, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin admitted that he is now gaining more support from the people.
The UMNO deputy president even joked about him being more popular than Malaysia's number one singer, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza.
"People want to take selfies (with me). I think I'm more popular than Siti Nurhaliza.
"I know that this is not (just) the sentiment from the Malays, but the Chinese and Indians who shook hands with me would say "I support you".
"They see the actions that I took as appropriate and reasonable in fighting for their fate, not only the Malays but every race in the country," he said in his speech when opening Pontian UMNO divisional meeting in Johor on Sunday.
