If not for party, Khalid would never have become the MB - PKR Youth chief

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin who had previously been issued a show cause letter and is facing discipline action, reiterated his earlier call for Abdul Khalid to resign.

Shamsul reminded Abdul Khalid who is also the Port Klang state assemblyman that if not for the party, he would never have been the Selangor MB.

In a press statement, Shamsul said Abdul Khalid was appointed as the Selangor MB following the party’s nomination and consensus among Pakatan Rakyat allies after the 2013 general election but his refusal to resign proved his shallowness in understanding that he is no longer wanted by the party.

"This shows that he placed himself higher than party interests” he said in the statement.

Shamsul who is the Bukit Katil member of Parliament alleged that the party’s leadership council had on Jan 15 asked Abdul Khalid to resign.

He urged Abdul Khalid to heed and respect the council’s call.

“The people of Selangor had chosen Keadilan and Pakatan Rakyat because they were confident of the collective agenda and manifesto, not because of Abdul Khalid,” he said.

There has been tremendous pressure for Abdul Khalid’s resignation as the Selangor MB as PKR’s deputy president Mohd Azmin Ali is said to be eying the powerful position.
