"If there is another leader like this, please get out," said PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, after a political turmoil that saw the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.
He is believed to be referring to the actions of former PKR deputy president, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, and former PKR vice-president, Zuraida Kamaruddin, and several other former PKR leaders who quit the party to join the Muafakat Nasional coalition on February 24.
Several other former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leaders also joined the new coalition.
Anwar said this in a statement via his social media site while explaining to Pakatan Harapan leaders on Monday on what had happened during the political conflict since February 23.
“Whatever happens, this team will continue to stay together and build its strength, do not panic, but we need to recover in spirit.
“We must be strong and move as a force and explain to the people the exploits of the traitors. Don't give up and sacrifice the principles.
“Let's not let this episode of democratic treason take place again. If there is another leader like this, by all means please get out, ” said the Port Dickson MP.
The political turmoil began on February 23 when several political parties in the Pakatan Harapan government and opposition held meetings simultaneously at several locations and met at a hotel to discuss the new coalition between the political parties.
The unrest lasted for several days leading to the resignation of then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Following this, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the president of Bersatu, was appointed as the eighth Prime Minister after receiving assent from Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Muhyiddin was sworn in as the prime minister on March 1.
