"I am not into such 'coffee break' invitations."
That was the reaction of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya when asked if he would take up Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's offer for a one-on-one meeting this morning over property scandals in the state.
Shabudin said as a seasoned politician, Lim should be more professional and allow the authorities to carry out their investigation.
"Why did YAB Bagan challenged me to meet him at his office this morning? Why the need to debate me?
"Sorry, but I am not into such 'coffee break' invitations. I just want him to cooperate with the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) on his bungalow purchase and the sale of property at Taman Manggis," he told a press conference here today.
According to Shabudin, he never asked Lim to provide any clarification to him.
Instead, Lim should offer his explanations to three authorities – Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry; the MACC, and the Valuation and Property Services Department, he said.
"I am ready to give my statement to the MACC and provide documents to support my claims. I have no qualms about cooperating," Shabudin said.
He said Lim's 'coffee' invitation was a cheap political gimmick which does not show his maturity as Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, at a separate media conference at Komtar this morning, Lim expressed his disappointment over Shabudin’s decision to not accept his invitation to meet face-to-face.
