Independent candidate Abu Backer creates 'drama', tears up nomination form

The nomination day for the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election received its fair share of drama when an independent candidate banged on the registration table at Dewan Jubli Perak, here, on Sunday.

Datuk Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad created the scene when he was submitting his nomination form to returning officer Mior Muhammad Jamil Mior Zakaria.

He suddenly stood up, banged on the table and shouted, “I too have dignity!” -- shocking those who were present in the hall.

To make it more 'interesting', Abu Backer also tore up the nomination form that he was supposed to submit.

However, moments later, he was seen shaking hands with Mior.
