Former MIC treasurer-general Datuk Jaspal Gurbakhes Singh, 52, has been re-appointed as a senator for a second term.

Jaspal, who is also the Social Strategic Foundation and Social Rehabilitation Foundation board of trustees member, was sworn in as a senator before Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang at Parliament building here today.

He will serve for a three-year period effective from last Nov 2 after his first term expired on Nov 1.

Jaspal, when met by reporters, said he would continue to bring up issues that were relevant to the community at present, including youths who faced big challenges in the workforce.

"The challenges faced by youths at present are not the same as 20 years ago, hence if the government wants this group to continue giving their support, we need to give them what they need," he said.
