Mohamed Khaled expresses hope the partnership will be a starting point for UMNO and PAS to create greater unity among the people, especially the Malays.
Johor UMNO has no problem working with PAS, said state UMNO Liaison committee chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Khaled said Johor UMNO was open to any kind of cooperation which would benefit the people.
"If there is anything that needs to be discussed or consulted, they are most welcome as this is to fulfill our national aspiration of bringing progress to the country and for the welfare of the people," he told reporters after a Gerak Mesra Perdana 2015 prize presentation and launch of Taman Scientex Hall in Pasir Gudang here, Sunday.
Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Johor Menteri Besar, said UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak had offered to work with PAS on Dec 10 in efforts to develop the nation in accordance with the Islamic law.
Najib, who is also the Prime Minister reportedly said he was pleased that PAS was no longer with the Opposition, after the party was abandoned by Pakatan Harapan which comprises, DAP, PKR and Amanah.
Mohamed Khaled said he hoped the partnership would be a starting point for UMNO and PAS to create greater unity among the people, especially the Malays.
He said unity was important for the community as a split could bring about instability in the country.
"As such, I pray that in 2016, our country will achieve all the best and any intention to create disharmony will be dispelled," he said.
