All parties have been asked to ignore the legal suit filed by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad against Datuk Seri Najib Razak for misconduct in public office and breach of fiduciary duty in carrying out his responsibilities.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said, the suit is seen as a deliberate action by certain parties to raise issues against the prime minister.
Hishammuddin, who is UMNO vice-president said, what is important is to be transparent to the people and to continue to plan the progress of the nation and people.
“If we take in to this issue, we will not be able to work. The most important thing is that we are transparent and the people know what we do. Now we continue with what we want to do.
“Eventually people will judge for themselves and will know why certain parties want to make up issues against us,” he said.
On Wednesday, Dr Mahathir filed a suit against Najib at the Kuala Lumpur High Court for misconduct in public office and breach of fiduciary duty in carrying out his responsibilities.
Apart from Tun Mahathir, two other plaintiffs included former Batu Kawan UMNO vice-chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and former Wanita Umno member, Anina Saadudin.
Lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla had filed the suit on behalf of the three individuals.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed previously said Tun Mahathir’s lawsuit was simply an attempt to provoke the people against Najib.
