DAP lauded the Kedah Council of Regency for summoning the State Assemblymen to voice their concerns before over the present political turmoil before making a decision.
Its secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng said the move, which marked the first by the Kedah Royal house was a testimony of the council’s concerns of the crisis.
He also said that it was a fair move made by the council to give an opportunity to all exco members in sharing their views that represent the full mandate of the rakyat.
“I feel that the Council is also trying to respect the rakyat’s decision. The Council must now respect the democracy, rakyat’s decision by summoning all exco members … for the first time ever.
Guan Eng was commenting on the meeting involving 15 exco members from Kedah opposition including two from DAP and members from the Kedah Council of Regency, believed to be related to the political feud involving the position of embattled Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir as Menteri Besar, today.
On Monday, Kedah Council of Regency chairman, Tunku Temenggong Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah along with Tunku Laksamana Tan Sri Diraja Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and Tunku Panglima Besar Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah held a meeting with Barisan Nasional state assemblymen.
At a press conference here today, Guan Eng reiterated DAP’s stand that Mukhriz must dissolve the State Assembly and allow rakyat of Kedah to choose their new government to break the deadlock.
“I do not wish to speculate what will be discussed at the meeting with the Kedah royal house as this is the absolute right of the Council.
“We must respect the palace ... we have been summoned an audience with the Royal council members and not the otherwise. We must respect the protocol and I don’t intend to speculate.
