Kota Bharu Puteri UMNO chief Wan Salmiah Wan Abd Ghani apologised on Monday over a belly dance video that went viral on social media last Saturday.
The belly dance was performed last Friday in front of the UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Tajuddin Rahman, Kota Bharu UMNO division chief Tan Sri Fatmi Che Salleh, and Kota Bharu UMNO Wanita chief Madihah Abdul Aziz.
The video featured four veiled women dressed like Arabic belly dancers, dancing and swinging their hips as the crowd watches.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Puteri UMNO Kelantan information chief Marshela Ali praised Wan Salmah for admitting her mistakes and accepting criticism.
Meanwhile, Puteri UMNO chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin shared a photo of a silat performance on her Facebook page which was performed during the opening of the Pasir Puteh Puteri UMNO delegates meeting on Friday.
"It's not wrong to introduce elements of our culture such as zapin, ghazal, caklempong, pantun (rhymes), silat, etc (but not belly dancing) so the young generations won't forget them," she wrote.
