Learn lesson from dark episode under opposition rule, voters told

Voters in Kuala Kangsar are advised to remember episode of being under the administration of -led state government before they cast their votes at the parliamentary by-election next month.

Malaysian UMNO Veteran Association chairman Tan Sri Mohd Tajol Rosli Ghazali said for 11 months under the opposition rule, the people had witnessed how the weaknesses of the DAP-PAS-PKR mixed government had caused political and social instability in Perak.

"That is why we have to retain the seat. Kuala Kangsar parliamentary constituency is the white area for BN.

"The Barisan Nasional (BN) has never lost the Kuala Kangsar seat since the first general election in 1959," he told reporters after launching the Perak UMNO Veteran Operation for Kuala Kangsar by-election campaign Friday.

Mohd Tajol Rosli said the association would distribute the 'Keluargaku Pengundi BN' posters to 4,800 UMNO veterans in Kuala Kangsar so that they could put it on display at their respective houses in a bid to help gain support for .

"This our support for the BN candidate and we will work all out to ensure victory for the candidate," he said.

The Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-election is being called following the death of its incumbent Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair- Anuar Wan Ahmad in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak, on May 5.

Also perished in the crash was Sungai Besar Member of Parliament Datuk Noriah Kasnon.

In the 13th general election, Wan Mohammad Khair- defeated PAS' candidate Khalil Idham Lim Abdullah and Independent Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim with 1,082-vote majority.

The Election Commission has announced that the by-elections for Kuala Kangsar and Sungai will be held simultaneously on June 18, while the nomination day is set June 5.
