Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai led the swearing-in ceremony of ministers and deputy ministers and took the oath of office and allegiance before Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at Istana Negara, here today.
Liow was sworn-in as minister together with Datuk Mah Siew Keong and Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong while the deputy ministers were Datuk Lee Chee Leong, Datuk Chua Tee Yong and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
All of them signed the oath of secrecy before the President of the Appeals Court, Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif witnessed by Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the appointment of Liow, who is also the MCA president as Minister of Transport.
Gerakan president Mah and MCA deputy president Wee were appointed as Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department.
Lee was appointed as Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Chua as Deputy Minister of Finance and Chew as Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.
Present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
Liow,53, first joined the Cabinet in 2008 as Minister of Health until the general election last year.
He was appointed as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in February 2006.
Mah, 53, was appointed as minister after beating Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud of DAP in the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election last month.
He was the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry in 2004 and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry in 2006 and 2008.
Wee, 46, served as Deputy Minister of Education from 2008 to 2013.
Lee, 56, was Perak Health and Environment Committee chairman (1995-1999), Deputy Foreign Minister (2009-2010) and Deputy Home Minister (2010-2013).
Chua,37, who is the son of former MCA president Tan Sri Dr Chua Soi Lek was the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry (2010-2013).
Chew,50, was Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development from 2009 to 2010.
