NAJIB: I will never sell out the country because I am a Prime Minister who will be held accountable for whatever I do.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had confirmed that the political funds donated to his personal account were not bribes and not from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.
"Do not say I’m selling the country out. I will never do that, I am a Prime Minister, who will be held accountable for whatever I do.
"And I didn’t accept (the fund) because of a contract," said the UMNO president during his speech at the UMNO Bandar Tun Razak meeting today.
He said, as a party president, he seeks funds including donations for the interest of the party and not for himself.
"As president, I collected funds for the benefit of the party. In those days, I helped a lot for pilgrims and the administration. Don’t add fuel to the flames whenever I’m attacked.
"That's why MACC has said, it wasn’t a bribe and it is also not from 1MDB. Solved. It’s resolved," he said.
Najib also reiterated that he was prepared to present UMNO accounts if the opposition is ready to do the same.
"The opposition should not accuse only. During elections, our (number of) flags will lose out to them (the opposition). You think they (flags) are free? Nonsense. They (the opposition) have 'sources'. So let’s together present,” he said.
