MCA to study UMNO's party polls postponement - Liow Tiong Lai
Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the party will study UMNO's reasoning behind the postponement of its party polls ahead of the 14th general election.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the party will study UMNO's reasoning behind the postponement of its party polls ahead of the 14th general elections.
He said MCA will also consider UMNO's decision which he said can help to focus on the unity between component parties under the Barisan Nasional.
"I see this as an effort to focus on service for the rakyat, it is a step to get ready and stay united for the next general election," he said.
"We will study their reasons for the decision. I am sure all the parties have the same objective which is the election," he said at the launch of a new building for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Sam Yoke.
"We will continue providing service to the rakyat, we want to focus on the rakyat," he added.
On Friday, UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced a 18-month postponement of UMNO party polls, initially scheduled next year.

The decision is made to strengthen the Barisan Nasional ahead of the 14th general election, Najib said adding such postponement had been done during his predecessors' time.
MCA's 2013 party polls saw a three-corner fight between the president Datuk Ong Tee Keat, Liow and Gan Ping Sieu.
