Members leaving party not a concern, says PAS veep

PAS vice president, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad confirmed that 20 of its members have left the party to join Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB).

However, he said the matter did not raise any concern to the Islamist party.

He also said based on their own research, the number of members who left was very minimal compared to the new recruitment.

“Only 20 members left, and 4,800 members coming in. I'm not worried because we have done a research, and this is not a problem for PAS," he said at the launching ceremony and registration of Rumah Selangorku Idaman PKNS here, Friday.

Commenting further on whether there are more members leaving the party, he said that there were no reports received so far.

Previously, few PAS members from the state and branch level have decided to leave the party.

The members include Shah Alam PAS Youth chief, Helmi Radzuan along with 12 of his committee members, claiming the party was becoming "exclusive".

PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang earlier described their departure as a ‘cleansing process’ for the party.
