Members quitting UMNO or suspended won't help solve party issues - Rafidah
RAFIDAH: The problem faced now cannot be resolved by sacking members, leaving the party, insulting one another and showcasing qualities which do not reflect the appropriate UMNO culture. - Filepic
Former Wanita UMNO chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said the problems faced by UMNO cannot be resolved through expulsions, resignation or hurling insults at each other.
The former cabinet minister said such acts is a display of attitudes that do not reflect the party's culture.
She said the problems in UMNO gives a bad image to the party and how it runs the government, not to mention straying from its original struggle.
“The problem faced now cannot be resolved by sacking members, leaving the party, insulting one another and showcasing qualities which do not reflect the appropriate UMNO culture.
"Why is the party that has long governed the nation and served the people, been victimised by the failure of an individual?" said Rafidah in her recent Facebook posting.
She also said that UMNO members had never been told to devote themselves to any individual nor to serve the interests of anyone.
Rafidah said party members should only serve the party's interests in developing the nation.
"Where is the effort to unite? Whatever happened to being faithful to UMNO? And what has been done in the context of serving?" she asked.
She stressed that party members need to find a way to reconcile their differences and discuss with an open mind to rectify and mend any issues in order to restore the people's confidence.
A concerned Rafidah said, what’s happening in UMNO at present may manifest into a culture that would influence the younger generation in the party.
