SUBRAMANIAM: It has been decided that the CWC members who were appointed in 2009 will be the ones to carry out the party's re-election process.
The MIC will be calling the 2009 interim central working committee (CWC) to meet next week, where a new committee will be appointed to conduct the party’s re-election process.
Its deputy president, Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said the decision had been jointly agreed by party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel during a meeting with Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
“This morning, a meeting was held between the Najib, Muhyiddin, Tengku Adnan, Palanivel and myself.
“Several agreements have been reached, among which to accept and carry out all decisions made by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) through its letters dated from Dec 5, 2014 up to Feb 6.
“With that, the CWC members who were appointed in 2009 will be the ones to carry out the party’s re-election process.
“In line with that, the CWC will appoint a new committee to conduct the elections and Palanivel has informed that he will be calling for the CWC meeting next week,” he told a Press conference at the MIC headquarters in Sentul here today.
Subramaniam said the re-elections would be carried out based on the schedule determined by the RoS.
The Health Minister also said the CWC meeting, which was supposed to be held today but postponed due to the consensus, would still be carried out with other agendas.
“We will be discussing the suspension made by Palanivel on three members – A. Sakhtivel, Datuk Jaspal Singh and V.S. Mohan as it goes against RoS’ orders that it cannot approve any new appointments until the internal crisis is resolved,” Subramaniam added.
