Despite its internal struggle recently, MIC is confident that it would regain its strength with the support of the Barisan Nasional (BN).
Its president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said in this regard, MIC was counting on the leadership to assist the party in transforming the Indian community particularly in the aspect of economy and education.
He said MIC was confident that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's leadership was capable of bringing about changes and transformations in the country to an outstanding level.
"MIC is also prepared to help Najib in narrowing the economic divide between the community of different races to ensure economic stability and unity," he said.
Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, said MIC pledged to stand behind the Prime Minister in facing the challenges that might come and to make efforts to resolve the social and economic hardships faced by the people.
He said this in his speech at the national-level Deepavali Open House held at Dataran Kulim here Wednesday night.
Also present were Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Tourism and Culture deputy Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
