MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel today confirmed that he will be meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the crisis the party is facing next week.
The Natural Resources and Environment Minister said it would be a closed-door meeting and that his deputy Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam would also be present.
"I do not want to make any more comments now," he told reporters after handing over Chinese New Year hampers to Cameron Highlands MCA and Gerakan division heads here today.
He was asked to comment on the statement by Najib yesterday that he (Najib) would be summoning the two leaders concerning the crisis beleaguring the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.
This will be the second time Najib, who is also BN chairman, will be seeing the two leaders on the crisis after having met them earlier this month.
MIC plunged into a crisis after the Registrar of Societies (ROS) ordered the party to hold re-elections for its three vice president posts and 23 Central Working Committee CWC) seats after finding irregularites in the party's polls held in November 2013.
On Monday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had announced that MIC would hold fresh party elections at all levels, including for president and deputy president, from April to July, towards resolving the crisis so that the party will not be deregistered.
However, at a press conference in the federal capital yesterday, Palanivel had demanded that ROS withdraw all its notices to to MIC regarding the party's problems by Monday failing which the party would haul it (ROS)to court.
