MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam said the party would be focusing on the re-elections, as suggested by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
He said the MIC re-elections would start with the branch level, in the middle of next month.
Speaking to reporters after officiating at the National-Level ASEAN Dengue Day commemoration here, Wednesday, he stressed that he was still a legitimate member of the party and that his suspension announced by MIC president Datuk Seri G.Palanivel yesterday was invalid as the latter was no longer a party member.
"Based on the MIC constitution, any party member who brings an issue to court and which is in conflict with the decision of the Central Working Committee (CWC), his party membership will automatically cease.
"The CWC's decision on the issues in the party was in keeping with the RoS' directive," he said.
