MIC leadership former president, Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu doesn't really beat around the bush, these days.
Unhappy with the performance of the MIC leadership, the 78-year-old politician said party leaders had lost sight of his responsibility.
Without naming the leader, Samy Vellu said he had never interfered in party matters since he stepped down as party leader in 2009.
“I never told him what or how to do. That’s his business,” he said in an exclusive interview with Astro AWANI at his residence, today.
Asked if the current party leaders are taking care of the party and community as he would have liked to, Samy Vellu said the leaders seemed to have been warped in their own world.
He said the leaders are busy 'politicking' instead of attending to community matters.
“During my time, I made all those who had issues with me as my friends. All the problems seemed to have disappeared,” he said.
He said the current leadership had lost sight of his responsibility and seemed to be moving in a ‘different path’.
Party insiders, however said Samy Vellu is unhappy that MIC president Datuk G. Palanivel spends more time in India for religious matters instead of party affairs.
“The party will go to grave if its leaders do not have the time,” he said.
Samy Vellu was evasive when asked which leader would be able to steer the party back to its glory days.
He remained tight-lipped when asked if he sees himself in his son Datuk Seri S.Vell Paari, Samy Vellu who is also the party's strategic director.
Samy Vellu, however lamented that Palanivel does not make time for him as, "I'm an old fellow. He is too big and does not have time for me."
