MIC polls: Saravanan believes no factionalism this time around
There is no line up in MIC. We are brothers, there is no more team system in the party.
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan said he believed there would not be any factionalism when MIC holds re-elections next month.
Saravanan, who has already announced that he will be going for the deputy president post, said anyone could offer himself or herself for the post.
"There is no line up in MIC. We are brothers, there is no more team system in the party," he told a press conference at MIC's headquarters here Saturday.
So far the only other member to have announced also going for the number two post is Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany, who is also the Speaker of the Perak Legislative Assembly.
MIC's Supreme Council has fixed Oct 25 for nominations and Nov 6 for the polls. The party will hold its annual general meeting the next day at Taman Ekspo Pertanian Malaysia Serdang (MAEPS) in Serdang.
The Registrar of Societies ordered the Barisan Nasional component party to hold re-elections after nullifying the results of the party's elections in November 2013, following complaints about irregularities in the polls.
