Independent candidate in the Bukit Gelugor by-election Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar has urged PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar to return to the party's original struggle.
He said both party leaders had been politicising hudud, which was the party's cause all this while.
"In front of a Malay audience, they will talk about PAS' struggles when campaigning but when facing Chinese voters, they shy away from talking about hudud," he told a news conference before starting his campaign in Air Hitam here Thursday.
Mohamed Nabi Bux also hit out at PAS leaders for not explaining to the people why they chose a DAP candidate for the by-election as he (DAP candidate) was clearly opposed to the implementation of hudud.
"Is this their struggle for Islam which they have been harping about all this while? I urge all PAS leaders to return to their original struggle and to repent," he said.
The Bukit Gelugor parliamentary seat by-election this Sunday will be a four-cornered contest involving Mohamed Nabi Bux, Ramkarpal Singh from DAP, Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan and another Independent candidate, Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad Zan.
