Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed hope that the coalition of Malay parties that forms the PN government remains together, including in GE15.
ARAU: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed hope that the coalition of Malay parties that forms the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government remains together, including in the 15th General Elections (GE15).

However, he left it entirely to the leadership of other parties that did not join PN, especially UMNO, to make any decision on the cooperation.

Muhyiddin, who is also the PN chairman, explained that the cooperation involving the PN parties was still strong, especially after the official statement issued by PAS which remained with the PN in continuing what was planned before, especially on issues related to the people's welfare.

“We have discussed yesterday and a day before that in the Bersatu Political Bureau meeting and (Supreme Leadership) Council, and we have made an official statement on our stand.

"Yesterday we also held a meeting with PAS, and Alhamdulillah, PAS expressed a strong stand (to) remain with Perikatan Nasional, continue what we have planned, strengthen cooperation between existing parties (and) focus on the elections.

"I think it will not be a problem although we want to see a coalition of Malay parties, if possible, can remain endlessly until the future because the people liked this.

“Whatever it is, I leave it to the leaders of other parties (who are not in PN). (But for the parties) in PN, Alhamdulillah the situation is still strong," Muhyiddin said at a press conference during a visit to the COVID-19 Vaccine Centre (PPV) at the Kampung Gial Health Clinic, here on Friday.

Earlier, UMNO was reported to have sent a letter to the Prime Minister on February 26, informing the decision of the party's Supreme Working Council (MKT) to end cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PN by GE15.

Following that, Bersatu Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, stated that the party took seriously the contents of the letter sent by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the content of the letter has great implications for cooperation between UMNO, Bersatu and PN in the future.
