KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been urged to hold talks with Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to discuss the 2021 Budget.
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said Muhyiddin should respect Anwar's position as the leader of the opposition in the Dewan Rakyat if he wanted the 2021 Budget to have the support of all parties.
He said, Muhyiddin must also respect the order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah who wants politicking to be stopped at this time.
"The Yang di-Pertuan Agong's order not to play politics is of course to all politicians whether from the government or opposition.
"Because of that, Muhyiddin also needs to stop playing politics, meet us from Pakatan Harapan to discuss the 2021 Budget that the government will present.
"Also please respect the role of the Opposition Leader, what's wrong with meeting and discussing," he told Astro AWANI.
The Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council will reportedly hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the 2021 Budget which is scheduled to be tabled on November 6.
Salahuddin had previously stressed that he and his friends in PH were ready to be called by the prime minister to enable a consensus to be reached for the good of the people.
"We are objective, if it is for the people and the country, we will support. For the next 2021 Budget, as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong wants this government to run and this budget is approved, so call us.
"We have a team that is able to channel the best thoughts and ideas. We are ready at any time, call us quickly," he said recently.
