The presence of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the UMNO general assembly today caused some chaos at the premises.
The chaos apparently stemmed from some unknown group or groups which were said to be trying to create provocation.
The media had been gathering outside the Dewan Tun Dr Ismail at Putra World Trade Centre, where Muhyiddin was at. They were waiting for the UMNO deputy president to leave the hall after attending the UMNO Youth meeting.
As Muhyiddin and his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman were making their way out to attend the Wanita UMNO meeting at Dewan Merdeka, things suddenly became hectic. People were pushing one another senselessly, charging at each other, yelling and screaming, including media personnel, the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) members and some unknown groups of people.
The situation, however, came to calm after the media and those who were there were told to leave.
Meanwhile, when asked by members of the media if he would be attending the UMNO Supreme Council meeting tonight, Muhyiddin seemed to have nodded, indicating that he would.
Previously, there were speculation that Muhyiddin might not be attending any of the UMNO meetings at all, after party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced that the party wings would be officiating their own meetings.
Traditionally, the party's deputy president would be the one officiating the party wings' meetings.
As for the presidential briefing held at the Merdeka Hall last night, Muhyiddin wasn't present either, despite him reportedly being at PWTC.
