MyPPP today unanimously rejected the 'Mahathir Declaration' and pledged support for the leadership of Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Its president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas said the decision was reached at the party's Supreme Council meeting, which was attended by all its members and the state liaison chiefs.
"We disagree with the declaration made by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad because it is personal and does not represent all Malaysians. There is no law in this country that says that if you disagree with the system, you can form a group and collect signatures," he told reporters after chairing the MyPPP Supreme Council meeting at the party's headquarters here, today.
He stressed that Malaysians accept all the transformation programmes made by Najib including the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and there was no the need to demand his resignatuion.
Kayveas also said most of the laws in this country were introduced by Dr Mahathir when he led the country for 22 years and now he chose to oppose them.
"Its like a Kung Fu master who disagrees with his own Kung Fu," he said cynically while inviting Dr Mahathir who quit UMNO, to join MyPPP which is also a BN component party.
On March 4, Dr Mahathir led some 50 people including Lim Kit Siang of the DAP and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Azmin Ali of PKR, in signing a declaration demanding Najib's resignation as prime minister.
The declaration was also signed by former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir and former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
