Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has never divided the people into social compartments but champions the cause of all races, said UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said as a responsible leader, Najib, who is also UMNO president, always look for ways to unite the various races in the country.
Ahmad Zahid said those who labeled the speech by Najib at UMNO General Assembly (UGA) 2016 as dividing politics along racial line as antagonistic.
"Its just a political analysis based on frustration. They should do some soul searching," he told a press conference with UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here today.
He was commenting on a statement by Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah who claimed that the speech by Najib could lead to 'racial disaster' in the country.
Commenting on the debate on the president's speech, Ahmad Zahid said most issues posed by the spokesmen touched on loyalty to the leadership and unity among party members.
The spokesmen also dewelled UMNO's preparation for the 14th General Election (GE14) in addition to challenges in the form of lies and false accusations by the Opposition.
"This year, although the spokesmen said in jest, they were packed with the message of unity," he added.
Meanwhile, Hishammuddin, who is also UGA 2016 motion chairman said all the spokesmen put across their arguments based on the guidelines set.
"What were voiced out came from the grassroots. Their remarks pose a challenge (to the leaders)," he said.
