Najib reminds UMNO, BN machineries against being complacent

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants the UMNO and Barisan Nasional machineries to refrain from being complacent or taking their duties lightly.

The UMNO president and BN chairman said the machineries should always focus on delivery, fulfilling promises and spending time to meet and listen to the people to understand their aspirations and needs.

"I hope the UMNO divisions or branches will put in more effort and resolve disputes that may be detrimental to the party. Use the conventions to discuss and settle problems faced by the people.

"We must always be ready and make sure that we are prepared to serve the people and country," he said in his latest post on his official blog www.najibrazak.com.

Najib said the UMNO Supreme Council meeting last Friday decided that the UMNO branch and divisional meetings this year would be held much earlier.

He said the UMNO branch meetings would be held between March 17 and April 30 while the divisional meetings would be held between July 7 and Aug 26.

"I explained that we should not assume that these earlier dates are an indicator of the 14th general election.

"There is nothing unusual about the annual meetings being held early or late in the year. We brought the dates forward because this year there are several events such as the SEA Games and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which is expected in June, Insya-Allah (God willing)," he said. - BERNAMA
