Penang UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman today revealed efforts made by a new opposition party to "fish" UMNO members, especially those who lost in their contest for party post.
He said he received information that Parti Pribumi Bersatu (Bersatu) was looking for UMNO members to join the party.
"The party (Pribumi) network is said to be making contacts with UMNO members who lost in the party elections to get them to join the new party, but so far, no one has left to join Pribumi," he told reporters after opening the Tasek Gelugor Wanita UMNO divisional delegates meeting in Kubang Menerong, near here, today.
He said the opposition party was focusing on UMNO members who were fence-sitters and whose commitment towards the party was fading.
