New political party 'PAP' awaits registration

An application has been sent to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to register a new political party called the People's Alternative Party (PAP), pro-tem president Zulkifli Mohd Noor said yesterday.

He said the application was sent on Monday.

"After getting the RoS approval, we will launch the party in Kuala Lumpur," he told a press conference to announce the formation of the PAP 25-member pro-tem committee.

Zulkifli, who is former DAP national deputy chairman, said the party, to be based on liberal democratic ideology, intended to field candidates in every state and parliamentary constituency in the 14th general election.
