Nik Aziz wants PAS to contest in Pengkalan Kubor by-election

NIK AZIZ: If you ask me, I want PAS.
PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat wants a candidate from his party to contest in the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election on Sept 25.
"I am from PAS, I want PAS (to contest)," he said when asked which party from among the coalition pact, Pakatan Rakyat, he wanted to contest in the by-election.
The former Kelantan Menteri Besar said, however, the decision on the candidate to contest in the by-election would be decided by the party's state level committee soon.
"If you ask me, I want PAS, but how about Parti Keadilan Rakyat? (PKR) (I) don't know, I leave it to the state level committee," he told reporters when met at his residence in Pulau Melaka here, today.
The by-election is being held following the death of incumbent Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar, 57, from Barisan Nasional (BN) due to liver cancer at a hospital in Guangzhou, China on Aug 20.
In the last general election, the late Noor Zahidi defeated PKR candidate Saharun Ibrahim and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes.
