A vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is akin to not trusting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said Pas.
Its president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, said it is for everyone to respect the decision made by Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
He added it is up to the people to assess the actions of those who wanted to submit a motion of no confidence against the prime minister when the Dewan Rakyat reconvenes on May 18.
“Therefore, those who try to push for a vote of no confidence against the prime minister, their actions are no different from not trusting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“Then it is up to the people to judge them,” he said at a press conference at the Rusila Mosque here today.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) had earlier said it would submit a motion of no confidence against the prime minister when the Dewan Rakyat sitting begins on May 18.
The motion for the vote of no confidence was mooted by PH as it disputed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s appointment as the eighth prime minister who PH claims has lost the support of the majority of the members of Parliament.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had agreed to appoint the Bersatu president in accordance with article 402 (2) (a) and article 43 (2) (a) of the Federal Constitution.
Muhyiddin was sworn-in as the nation's eighth prime minister last Sunday after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong believed that the former commanded majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
