There is no need to dissolve Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in order to ensure one-to-one fights between the opposition and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election, said Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today.
The Amanah strategic director said, there should not be a problem in putting forward just one candidate to take on BN if there is a mutually agreed upon understanding among Pakatan Harapan allies.
"Ideally, it will be better for us to contest under one logo. However, given that our alliance is in pre-election (stage), surely an understanding can be reached to achieve that objective (for one-on-one fights)."
"There is no need to dissolve Amanah. As an alliance, Pakatan Harapan can work together with other opposition parties to win the election," Dzulkefly told Astro AWANI on Friday.
He however declined to comment when asked about a news report purporting that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has refused to sign an agreement to work with Pakatan Harapan.
"Generally, Pakatan Harapan can work with other parties, be it informally or in the form of a loose cooperation," he said while refusing to elaborate further on a report which has yet to be confirmed.
