IPOH: No political party has the simple majority to form the new Perak State Government at this time.
Perak Dewan Negara member, Datuk Seri Annuar Zaini said the situation thus failed to convince the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah to appoint the 14th Menteri Besar of the state.
"As a result of His Highness still not convinced that any party has a simple majority, the swearing-in ceremony can only be implemented when His Highness is convinced.
“Therefore, His Highness has not been able to be convinced by any party.
"We will wait until they are ready to convince the Sultan of Perak and His Highness is satisfied that there is a simple majority to form the government," he told the media at the Istana Kinta compound here today.
He said this after three Perak Pakatan Harapan leaders -- Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and Perak Amanah chairman Asmuni Awi – had an audience with Sultan Nazrin.
It was followed by leaders from Perak UMNO, namely the state liaison chairman, Datuk Saarani Mohamad and former Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Annuar also said that until today (Tuesday), no individual or politician has sought an audience with Sultan Nazrin.
"For today, there are no more audiences. Tomorrow is the same, so far there has not been any party seeking to have an audience with His Highness tomorrow,” he said.
At the same time, he also confirmed that Titi Serong assemblyman, Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim had appeared before Sultan Nazrin this morning but it is not known in what capacity the meeting was held.
