No stand yet made by PKR over PR's pact ruckus

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has not made any stand yet over the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pact turmoil, amid DAP's claim Tuesday that the opposition coalition had ceased its existence following PAS muktamar's resolution calling for the severing of ties with the DAP.

The decision should have been made Tuesday during the PKR's weekly political bureau meeting at the party headquarters here, as stated earlier by the party secretary-general Rafizi Ramli.

Also present in the meeting were PKR president, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, her daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar, who is also party vice-president, Rafizi and other leaders.

The meeting had commenced at 8.30pm while dozens of local and international reporters had been thronging to the venue pending the announcement. As of at 11.45pm the meeting was still ongoing.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng claimed the decision of the PAS muktamar to sever ties with the DAP had "killed" the pact.

Pakatan Rakyat, a loose pact, was formed on April 1, 2008 by the DAP, PAS and PKR after the 12th general election.

Early this month, the 61st PAS general assembly passed a resolution calling for the severing of ties with the DAP after the DAP had officially cut ties with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The DAP cut ties with Abdul Hadi after claiming that the latter failed to discuss with the other Pakatan Rakyat members on PAS' plan to proceed with the implementation of the 'hudud' law in Kelantan.

PAS, on the other hand, had claimed that DAP leaders had attacked Abdul Hadi's leadership, prompting the party to sever ties with the DAP.
