UMNO Youth exco Armand Azha Abu Hanifah today rubbished reports on myKMU.net that had claimed that there were some leaders in the Youth movement conspiring to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Armand said the UMNO Exco and UMNO Johor Youth leader were only discussing issues which could be raised by the opposition in the Rompin and Permatang Pauh by-election campaigns.
“We are sure the Opposition will raise the issue of 1MDB and GST. The Youth leaders’ discussion was centered around those issues,” he said in a press statement.
He stressed that no parties involved in the discussion had raised the issue of pressuring Najib to resign, as reported by the portal.
He also said the issue of 1MDB must be answered by its management and not UMNO.
“The 1MDB management is the one who should be providing clear explanation over the issue while awaiting the reports from the National Audit Department and the Public Accounts Committee,” he said.
“This is because this issue will be brought up in the by-elections by the Pakatan Rakyat and the Barisan Nasional will have to answer when it is the 1MDB who should be answering,” he added.
Yesterday, the portal had reported that five UMO National Youth leaders, led by the wing’s deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun had met UMNO Youth leader in Rompin to discuss on toppling Najib.
The portal also claimed that Khairul Azwan or also known as Azwan Bro had in the meeting said that he did not believe in Najib’s explanation to the wing last week over the matter .
When contacted, Khairul Azwan declined to comment over the report.
