PKR vice-president, Nurul Izzah has ruled out the possibility that any of her siblings will contest for any by-election.
Nurul Izzah was commenting on rumours which stated that her sister, Nurul Nuha Anwar will contest for the Permatang Pauh by-election.
“The media asked, “which sibling will contest this time? I say, if you are in our place, you will not contest for any by-election held in Malaysia.
“The playing field in not levelled, no freedom of press. Online media may provide coverage, but what about the mainstream media?” she said in a speech during the ‘Solidariti Bersama Anwar’ event on Sunday.
She added that all parties within Pakatan Rakyat should unite if they want to conquer Putrajaya in the next general election.
“We have to unite.... Keadilan, DAP, PAS. We are stupid if we do not understand that the only way for us to succeed in the general election is if we remain united and strong as a coalition,” said Nurul Izzah who is also Lembah Pantai MP.
Apart from that Nurul Izzah also informed that Anwar’s medical report would be submitted by their lawyers.
She however did not say to whom or where the report would be submitted.
Meanwhile, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang informed that the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council will discuss the coalition’s future in the upcoming meeting.
“We will discuss based on the joint policy framework and the principle of consensus that all matters should be approved by all three parties,” said Kit Siang.
He added that the planning will extend to eight years by taking into consideration programs for the 14th by-election which may be held in three years and the five year planning soon after the election.
Following Anwar’s imprisonment on February 10, many political observers stated that Anwar’s second daughter, Nurul Nuha was brought forward to continue the family’s political fight in Permatang pauh.
PKR president, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail however denied such rumours.
She said that Nurul Nuha was only campaigning for her father’s release.
