MAHFOUZ: Abdul Hadi should be Opposition Leader as he is far more experienced
The PAS Ulama Council is against the idea of making PKR vice-president, Nurul Izzah Anwar, the new Opposition Leader.
Council deputy chairman, Datuk Mahfodz Mohamed said he is aware of the suggestion by some quarters who wanted the Lembah Pantai MP to take on the role following the conviction of her father, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for sodomy on Feb 10.
Anwar is currently serving a five-year jail term the Sungai Buloh Prison after his final appeal at the Federal Court was rejected.
"I’ve heard Nurul Izzah’s name being mentioned as a prospect for the next Opposition Leader… I don’t think this should be so, she’s too young," Mahfodz told a press conference after the second Multaqa Ulama SeMalaysia at the MPSJ Indoor Stadium Serdang Jaya Saturday.
He said, PAS is throwing their support behind party president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang the post as he is far more experienced and has served his party for a long time.
