Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today stressed that the movement to topple him as Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament was not the work of any individuals in Barisan Nasional (BN).
The deputy prime minister said he was confident that the effort was done by a group or non-governmental organisation (NGO) backed by the Opposition.
“I would like to explain that the effort did not stem from within, not even from any BN components. It is an open secret that the role of the Opposition coalition to topple BN candidates,” he said.
“In Bagan Datuk, however they use NGOs and several other group to ensure that I don’t get any support,” said he said at People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) members from the Home Ministry Top Management Council, here today.
He said that he had exposed about the movement before an audience made up of BN components members as a cautionary for them to be vigilant of their political enemies at all times.
“The exposure was done at an event attended by BN components members. This means that the effort to topple me comes from outside and we must strive to defend ourselves and ready to face any attacks from the Oppositions using organisations and individuals to break down the support given to the MP, State Assemblymen and BN candidates in Bagan Datuk,” said Ahmad Zahid.
Prior to this, Ahmad Zahid had exposed that there had been culprits behind the move to topple him as Bagan Datuk MP in the 14th General Election.
