The failure of the opposition to attract many participants to the 'Love Malaysia, End Kleptocracy' rally in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Saturday clearly proves that the people are getting a better understanding of the situation from the explanation given by the government in fending off numerous baseless accusations.
UMNO Supreme Council member, and Kelantan UMNO Liaison Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said it simultaneously showed that the people were starting to reject any agenda by the opposition because the issues they harped on were baseless.
"In fact, the gathering did not get a response from among their own members," he told reporters after a Sungai Rual Orang Asli Development Programme Co-Ordination Meeting at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Rual school hall here on Sunday.
Yesterday, the gathering at Padang Timur clearly failed to meet the aspiration of its organisation as the number of participants was a far cry from the 100,000 participants targeted.
Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said Barisan Nasional had expected that the programme by the opposition would not get the people's response this time.
