Lack of involvement in Sungai Besar by-election by Opposition party leaders shows that they are not interested in
gaining support from voters.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said if they were rarely seen during the campaign period of the by-election, then they might just go missing after this.
"This is in contrast with Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi who is strongly supported by the federal government with the presence of the prime minister, the deputy prime minister and the ministers," he said after opening an Agro-Based Industry seminar, here today.
He was commenting on the lack of involvement by Opposition party leaders in Sungai Besar by-election campaign which will end at midnight tomorrow.
The by-election should be used to foster good ties between the people and the BN government which saw the importance to be always active in the area.
Commenting on the support of AMANAH members for the BN candidate, Ahmad Shabery who is also UMNO Supreme Council member said it was a pleasant surprise.
However, he said the action of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in declaring support for the AMANAH candidate was more surprising as PAS is part of the state government.
The minister said Mohamed Azmin's action was a test for the dignity of the PAS leaders, members and supporters who assisted in making the PKR deputy president the Selangor menteri besar.
"PAS has to show that it has dignity. AMANAH has no election machinery and is depending on the DAP. As such, there is no reason to support the party."
