The Pakatan Harapan leadership has denied rumours that former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be made Opposition Leader, replacing Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
According to Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub, Pakatan Harapan has never discussed about the matter as all parties are satisfied with Wan Azizah's leadership.
“No such statement has been made. All parties in Pakatan Harapan are satisfied with Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah as the Opposition Leader,” said Salahuddin Ayub after a Pakatan Harapan leadership council meeting today.
Asked whether Muhyiddin will be given a post if he were to join Pakatan Harapan, Salahuddin said it will be considered, but not a leadership post.
Nevertheless, he said Pakatan Harapan will always welcome Muhyiddin, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to any of the opposition pact's party.
On June 24, the UMNO Supreme Council sacked Muhyiddin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz for indiscipline and for being on the same stage with Opposition leaders to attack the UMNO leadership, while Shafie left the party on July 4 after being suspended.
