The Dewan Rakyat special sitting has been adjoruned to Monday.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon made the announcement after the parliament went into a lockdown following the detection of two COVID-19 cases involving MPs.
The postponement may be be seen as an attempt to buy some time for Perikatan Nasional leaders who are facing growing calls to resign after Istana Negara issued a statement expressing the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's disappointment that the Emergency Ordinances were revoked without His Majesty’s consent.
AGONG ‘DEEPLY SADDENED’
In the strongly-worded statement by Istana Negara, the King said the statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan in Parliament on July 26 is inaccurate and has misled the members of the Dewan Rakyat.
The King states the evocation of Emergency Ordinances effective July 21 were done in haste without tabling the matter in Parliament.
His Majesty added the contradictory statements on the matter had not only failed to uphold the sovereignty of the law as outlined in the Rukun Negara but also disregarded the role and powers of the King, as the nation’s head of state.
The statement added that the King is also deeply saddened that the agreement during a virtual meeting with Takiyuddin and Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun on July 24 to table and debate the revocation of Emergency Ordinances in parliament was not implemented.

COVID-19 TESTS CAN BE DONE, BUT PARLIAMENT SESSION SHOULD CONTINUE - ANWAR
“We all can do the swab tests, it can be done without complicating the ongoing parliamentary session. This is their ‘trick’ to continue and postpone the parliament session,” Anwar said in a press briefing.
“If there is any integrity left, he should resign. He’s not confident to face the parliament and not confident in having a majority.
“Now we have established that fact, we leave the decision to Yang di-Pertuan Agong to save this country from the present crisis.
Earlier, the Dewan Rakyat erupted into chaos with shouts of “derhaka” (treason) and calls for Muhyiddin to resign.
Maszlee Malik (Simpang Renggam – Independent) claimed that if there is no ‘gentleman’ act from Muhyiddin and Takiyuddin, this incident might be remembered as a 'dark history' in Malaysia.
Gobind Sing Deo (DAP-Puchong) also highlighted two motions he filed to the Speaker’s Office, regarding the revocation of Emergency Ordinances which needs to debated and voted in Parliament.
