The 63rd PAS Muktamar (Assembly), to be held in Kedah, will be an important platform for the party to plan its strategy for the 14th general election (GE14), said Kedah PAS commissioner Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Sheikh Fakhrurazi.
He said the assembly, to be attended by about 1,200 delegates, would provide the best venue to rejuvenate the spirit and motivate party members to work hard to win in the election, including to wrest back Kedah.
"Among interesting topics that will be debated by delegates at the assembly are preparations by states to be the ruling party if given the mandate in the coming general election," he told Bernama.
The assembly is scheduled on April 27 until May 1, with the Dewan Ulama Assembly on April 28 at Sekolah Rendah Islam Darul Ulum, Tandop.
The assembly for the party's youth wing, Dewan Pemuda, and women's wing, Dewan Muslimat, will be held from April 27 to 28 at the Kedah PAS Complex and Pusat Pengajian Darul Hadis, Kampung Tok Keling, Alor Setar, respectively.
Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin said the Kedah PAS, which has the highest number of members, at 176,000, was hopeful of winning back the state.
"PAS is ready to shoulder the responsibility and the government in waiting, has made the necessary preparations.
"As the host of this year's assembly, we will try to make the people see that Kedah is capable of uniting all PAS members in the state," he added.
He said the assembly's agenda would also focus on the party election with the new leadership to be known by April 30 through e-voting.
For the central-level election, it will be for the posts of president, deputy presidents, three vice-president posts and 18 central committee members, while for the party wings, it will be for the posts of head, deputy and vice-head.
On the possibility of disgruntled members who failed to win posts in the party election joining its splinter group, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN), Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin said he believed that it would not happen.
On the issue of cooperation with UMNO, he said PAS had made known its stand that there would be no political cooperation with UMNO and expressed confidence that the matter would not be raised by delegates at the assembly.
"Likewise with DAP and PAN, there will be no political ties.
"If (with) Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), I am made to understand that PAS cooperates in the form of programme, but no decision has been made on political relations," he added. -- Bernama
