PAS denies its candidate is lagging behind in Sungai Besar

PAS today denies its candidate, Dr Abdul Rani Osman, is far behind in terms of support compared to the other two candidates in the coming Sungai Besar by-election, as alleged by Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
PAS vice-president Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad said any party can make such a claim with regard to the extent to which it has attained support from voters.
"I dismiss their allegation. We do get feedback about the support we received in Sungai Besar," he told a press conference which was also attended by Dr Abdul Rani here.
The Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election, polling to take place this Saturday, will see a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi, 44, Dr Abdul Rani, 58, and Azhar Abdul Shukur (Amanah).
Iskandar was also asked whether any disciplinary action will be taken against Dr Abdul Rani for his presence at the Iftar Perdana event organised by Pakatan Harapan last night.
The event, also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, was held in the campaign run for the Amanah candidate.
Iskandar said, Dr Abdul Rani’s action reflected on the culture of mature and peace politics practised by the Islamic party.
"No problem for Dr Abdul Rani to do that. He was there in his capacity as the State Assemblyman for Meru," he said.
